Mini review: Marius red wine blend

18 09 2012

This 2010 French red blend with the cool label cost me just $10.

Marius, from France’s Rhone valley, is a blend of syrah and grenache.  The aroma is spicy and tangy, like rhubarb.  The taste has spicy earth, roses, more rhubarb, and blackberries, with a nice dose of mouth-drying tannins.

It’s tight, it’s not sweet at all, and it’s good!  If you would like an affordable change of pace from the typical American red, Marius deserves your audition.
